When approaching her for the first time, she will immediately recognize that you are not a pirate or someone sent to help her complete her project. Despite that she will neither attack you nor summon the authorities to capture you, on the grounds that your presence doesn't really disrupt her efforts.
Be warned, attempts at greatly disrupting her work while she still cares about the project will cause her to summon authorities or [[Doctor Lash|lashing out like a another, focused scientist]].
