Despite his authority making his life a comfortable as possible on Uveto, Uveto is inherently not a comfortable place to live.  Between the conflict with the [[$link-10|Korgonne]] and neighboring tribes, the encroaching aliens, how bitterly cold it is, and the increasing scarcity of food; Eitan generally hates Uveto.  He had become aware of how much better life is for uplifted Milodans and had become tantalized by the prospects of getting his hands on Alien Technology and Amenities, despite the wishes of his village elders and his family.  So when [[$link-11|Alvella]] managed to mediate an alliance with the alien corporation [[$link-12|Pyrite Industries]] for alien resources in exchange for conquering  the mortal enemies of the Milodan, the Korgonne, it was an offer that was too good to be true.
