Victor Steele came from humble origins, working as a spacer near the beginning of the 13th Great Planet Rush. In the opening days of the Rush, Victor set out for the new stars, laying claim to vast riches and building up a new company, [[$link-6|Steele Tech]], which would eventually become one of the Mega-Corporations that dominate galactic trade. In his adventures, Victor was hounded by his conniving brother [[$link-7|Maximilian Steele]], who sought to steal everything his more successful brother had earned -- and indeed, leeched a highly successful life from Victor's accomplishments through legal loopholes and deceit. Despite his brother's manipulations, Victor became a wealthy and famous man, a renowned adventurer and lover who left a trail of bastards and broken hearts across the frontier. His adventures took him to many strange worlds, and the beds of many stranger aliens. He was mutated several times, both voluntarily and not, which over time caused the breakdown of his DNA to the extent that not even the youth-preserving treatments he regularly purchased could keep him alive forever.
