More than twenty years before TiTS takes place, Zeke was part of a smuggling ship’s crew, serving under a younger [[<tvar name="link-5">Special:MyLanguage/Lysander Chow</tvar>|Lysander Chow]]. At some point while working for Chow, Zeke met and had a one night stand with pirate [[<tvar name="link-6">Special:MyLanguage/Amara Faell</tvar>|Amara Faell]], which eventually resulted in the birth of a child, [[<tvar name="link-7">Special:MyLanguage/Kaede</tvar>|Kaede]]. Given their dangerous and criminal work, Zeke agreed to retire from smuggling to take care of Kaede. In the intervening years, Zeke was promoted to manager of the [[<tvar name="link-8">Special:MyLanguage/Tavros</tvar>|Tavros Station]] garage, and near the present day, was commissioned by [[<tvar name="link-9">Special:MyLanguage/Victor Steele</tvar>|Victor Steele]] to repair the adventurer’s original starship, a beat-up [[<tvar name="link-10">Special:MyLanguage/Casstech Z14</tvar>|Casstech Z14]].
