He then decided to pursue a career in culinary arts, but this had to be put on hold when his mother became terminally ill with a rare disease. Unable to pool the money to pay for her Treatment, Fadil sold himself into indentured servitude to a mining company for three years. His mother eventually did get better and he has since been released from his servitude. But he only earned the money so fast purely out of luck from his manager's wife's affections and his previous experience with heavy machinery in the military.
