Description

Kattom is a travelling weapons merchant that sells a variety of diverse guns, of different level tiers, in the wilds of Mhen'ga, Tarkus, Myrellion, and Uveto

Appearance

"A short-statured kaithrit has set up shop all alone in the untamed wilderness. If the roly poly cat-man is bothered by the dangerous surroundings, he makes no show of it. You wager the dozen heavily armed sentry drones buzzing around him have something to do with that....

"Greetings!” the kaithrit sweeps his arms wide, casting a bright red duster wide and smiling ingratiatingly. Dozens of guns hang across his rotund middle. “A fine day, is it not?”

History/Personality/Information of Note

Kattom travels rush worlds to bring his less-than legal wares to the natives to protect themselves from the "boogeymen coming from the sky." He has at least three current wives. Declining any attempt at flirtation or seduction.

Interactions

While travelling in the wilds, Captain Steele may run into Kattom selling weapon in the most unexpected place. He has a 1 in 10 chance of appearing on (possibly) any hazard tile, staying for 35 hours and marked by a commerce icon. After 35 hours left, he may appear in any other place. Kattom inventory isn’t static and rotates every visit from a pool of weapons unique to each planet. Kattom can appear on New Texas however his inventory is only full of Savicite, his placeholder stock for when he appears without a proper inventory. As a merchant, Kattom will sell weapons and buy some items from Steele.

When arriving on Dhaal for the first time, Captain Steele and Kattom will run into each other when disembarking the shuttle, regardless of how much time he has on the previous world. When this happens, Captain Steele can Shop through his Dhaal inventory, or Venture Forth. If the player selects the latter option he will remain just West of the Taxi Station for 35 Hours before departing from the planet as normal.

You can ask Kattom why he sells weapons in such a strange place and does not open a shop, like everyone else. He will answer that run out of competition and brings equality to the wild lands. Because guns are the great equalizer. You also can try Flirt with him. But Kattom will be terrified and refuse, fearing the vengeance of his wives.
