作为新德州上存活的原生生命形态之一，这种被当地人戏称为“瓦敏特”的掠食性生物，是殖民者早期殖民时代遇到的体型更大、更危险的品种的后代。瓦敏特的祖先最初是高大的、类似恐龙的、嗜好吃肉的生物，几乎被过度热心的殖民民兵赶尽杀绝。幸存下来的都是体型更小、危险性更低、智力更低的亚种。
瓦敏特是一种硅基生命形态，大致像一只巨大的地球犬，或说是蜥蜴。它们全身覆盖着粗糙的蓝色皮肤和又长又尖的棘刺，即使不直接攻击也很危险。它们的下颚极其有力，经常通过把对手撞倒在地、撕咬喉咙来发动攻击。
遇到瓦敏特时应将其视为敌对生物，它们可能会无端发起攻击。这些生物造成的死亡非常罕见，但可能导致重伤。由于瓦敏特种群分布广泛，建议在新德州离开城市范围外出时携带武器。
