| 史 English（en） | Bothrioc ears are sensitive and have a chitinous coat that dampens incoming sounds, limiting the amount of damage loud noises may otherwise do to them. Sensorially bothrioc largely rely on a small pair of antennae embedded just behind the hairline that are angled straight up. These pick up minute vibrations and allow them to detect movement relative to their position. Amongst other things, this feature of bothrioc anatomy is crucial to their famous trapdoor ambush as it allows them to detect when prey enter their range without having to see them. Furthermore, the antennae are capable of picking up scents, though bothrioc tend to have peculiar preferences in scent compared to other species due to the unusual structure of this olfactory organ. |
