With no allegiance or communication between the disparate colonies, each governed by an all-powerful king, interstellar wars of conquest quickly broke out all through ausar space. Several worlds were destroyed outright. Only through several high-profile political marriages and threats by the Gates' designers to shut the network down completely did the fighting slowly come to a stop. When it did, the Star-King of Ausaril convened several of his fellow autocrats and insisted upon a new alliance, now that the ausar worlds were able to communicate with one another for the first time since their foundings. Several generations of negotiations passed before the Joint Ausar Federation we know today emerged: a council of leaders and kings representing several hundred worlds in a parliamentary-style government overseen by the Star-King of Ausaril. |
