| 史 English(en) | === General Biology === <blockquote> Vanae have evolved to not rely on sight, but sound, using echolocation to hunt their prey. Emitted at higher frequencies than the human ear can perceive, vanae can “see” with sounds much like an earth bat. When the sound bounces back, two uniquely sensitive eardrums located at different heights in the inner ear pick up the delay and direction of returning sound. This allows them to not only determine direction, but also size, type, and other features of their prey and surroundings (much like a Terran Owl). It also allows them to move around despite the fact they are optically blind. |
