Children are raised in latchkey fashion, and it’s common to see the child of a couple stay with a neighbor or one of its parent’s lovers when its parents are away from home or otherwise invalidated. As consequence, communities develop a friendly, inclusive ethos and are quite welcoming to all but the most unusual visitors. However, this form of upbringing tends to result in a mild form of intellectual stagnation within homogeneous colonies as most children acquire the opinions and politics of the greater ovir community.
