Dr. Lucy Singh was leaning forwards over the table, hands flat against the surface to give herself better grip. Only they weren’t exactly hands anymore - her fingers had merged into thick, black stubs, two to each hand, with a third, shorter one seeming to approximate a thumb. With these hoof-hands she pawed frantically at hard plastic tabletop, while her whole body was rocked forwards again and again. Her face had changed too; her features were still similar enough to what they were before for Carrie to recognise her, but now her mouth came at the end of short muzzle, her nose was large, pink and flat, and her short brown hair was interrupted by both her now-elongated ears and two small white horns. Her tongue hung from her mouth as she cried out, making the same sound that had drawn her attention in the first place. Now that she had more context for it, Carrie realised it sounded most like a very enthusiastic “moo”.
