Another rush of tingling and a light sneeze washed away any apprehension about her new parasitic best friend. Evie giggled sleepily. After a few deep sniffs, she picked up a sweet, fruity smell coming from the fern-trees by the shore. Thick vines hung from the fronds, draping down into the water. She got up and waded into the pond, fetching one of the vines and dragging it back to the shore.
